Roland Mouret to return to London Fashion Week

Published
Dec 5, 2016

Roland Mouret will return to London Fashion Week for at least two seasons starting with the autumn/winter 2017/18 collection next February, a decade after he began to show his collection in Paris.

Although Mouret is French, his label was founded in London two decades ago.

The designer, who manufactures much of his collection in the UK, said London is his home and is “where my brand has its heart… I wouldn’t be able to do what I do anywhere else other than London.”

Mouret has had a checkered past, losing control of his brand name when he split from his backers only a few months after showing the bestselling Galaxy dress as part of his spring/summer 2006 collection.

He re-acquired his name rights in 2010 and his company, backed by Simon Fuller, has expanded fast. It saw turnover rising 24% and 22% respectively in 2015 and 2016.

This year he launched a 10th anniversary GalaxyTen mini collection featuring the original Galaxy dress design as well as a jumpsuit, top, skirt and jacket.

Category expansion is on the cards and he recently said that he would launch into leathergoods in the near future following his New York City store opening on Madison Avenue.
