Saks Fifth Avenue opens in Western Canada
Saks Fifth Avenue has officially entered Western Canada. The luxury retailer, which first entered the Canadian market in 2016, officially opened on Thursday its newest store in Calgary, at the CF Chinook Centre.
The 115,000-square-foot store features two-levels and houses both women's and men's categories with a focus on outerwear. On the first floor, Saks shoe salon, handbags and accessories from premier brands can be found, along with beauty, apothecary, fragrance and all men's categories. Meanwhile, women's ready-to-wear and denim collections, along with a dedicated 'Fur Salon', are located on the second floor.
The store, designed by the HBC store design and planning team and Stantec, has an understated palette and welcomed locally-sourced artwork featured in the windows and throughout the store for the opening.
"Our strategy for all stores in North America is to create one-of-a-kind experiences for our clients―this is what we call 'The New Luxury," expained Marc Metrick, president, Saks Fifth Avenue, in a news statement. "This is an experience clients cannot get anywhere else and we look forward to joining the Calgary community."
"Saks Calgary boasts a luxury footwear selection as well as exclusive beauty brands such as Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Ex Nihilo and Chantecaille, among others. This distinct edit, coupled with our exceptional services, will establish Saks as the Calgary shopping destination," added Tracy Margolies, chief merchant, Saks Fifth Avenue.
Saks Fifth Avenue opened its first two Canadian stores in February 2016. The first opened at CF Toronto Eaton Centre, while the second location opened at CF Sherway Gardens. Since entering Canada, Saks has equally opened a number of Saks Off 5th stores with plans to open up to 25 locations across Canada by 2018.
Saks also plans to open a full-line store in Montreal in fall 2018.
