Saks on Friday opened its second New York City store and first downtown location at Brookfield Place. The 86,000-square-foot store anchors the mall and houses exclusive brands and special capsule collections.

Saks Downtown features designer ready-to-wear, handbags and fine jewelry on the first level, contemporary designer brands, fashion jewelry and the shoe department on the second level and the Fifth Avenue Club on the third level for private styling. The second level also features a 220-foot-long by 12-foot-high mural by London-based artist Barry Reigate. The mural runs the full length of the shoes and sunglasses departments.

The Fifth Avenue Club is reimagined for the Brookfield Place store with five private rooms and two VIP suites. The Club also offers “Power Lunch,” a style consultation and express beauty treatment in 60 minutes.

“Saks Downtown marks a new vision for the brand. The focus is on our edit, bringing new depth to our emerging and advanced designer assortment,” stated Tracy Margolies, Chief Merchant, Saks Fifth Avenue. “Saks Downtown will carry more than 200 brands and 100 exclusive styles unique to our store. To celebrate the opening, we partnered with some of our favorite local brands, including Public School, Opening Ceremony, Rag & Bone, and Jonathan Simkhai, to develop exclusive New York-themed pieces.”

Saks Downtown is the first of several planned new stores and renovations in the New York metro area. This year, Saks will open the 10022-SHOE shop in Greenwich and will renovate Saks Walt Whitman in Long Island. In 2017, the Saks Downtown men’s store will open, as well as The Collective and The Vault in Greenwich, and in 2018, a new location will be opened at the American Dream mall in New Jersey. Saks also began renovations on its flagship Fifth Avenue store and is to be completed by 2019.
