Sporting Life enters Western Canada with new store

Canadian retailer Sporting Life announced on Wednesday its foray into Western Canada with the opening of its first Calgary store. The new retail location is scheduled to open at Southcentre Mall on Thursday, October 6.
 
The 44,000-square-foot store will feature a range of premium brands such as The North Face, Nike, Adidas and Hugo Boss, as well as Juicy Couture, Descente All Terrain, Bogner, Aksovaara, and more, all for which Sporting Life is the exclusive Canadian carrier. Items include men's, women's and children's wear as well as sporting equipment and footwear.
 

"When it came to expanding our presence within Canada, Calgary seemed like the perfect fit," says John Roe, Director of Marketing & Advertising, Sporting Life, in a news statement. "We felt an immediate connection with Calgary, from its strong Olympic roots to its close proximity to the Rocky Mountains. With a love for the outdoors and ongoing need for adventure, Albertans embody the lifestyles that we at Sporting Life aim to represent through our collections.”
 
As part of the retailers’ entry into the Calgary market, Sporting Life has also launched the #MySportingLife campaign, which encourages Canadians to describe what Sporting Life means to them for an opportunity to win a $1000 gift card to the new store. The retailer has partnered with a number of influential Calgarians including Hike Bike Travel, Velvet & Vino, Powder Matt, Dinner with Julie, style by jr and Andrew Obrecht of YYC Cycle for the initiative.

Sporting Life will continue to expand its presence in Canada with the opening of two new stores next year. The retailer was founded in 1979.
