Target x Marimekko previews
Target has given a preview of its newest designer collaboration with Marimekko, which will launch April 17, 2016.
The lookbook has been released, previewing women’s, girl’s, home and outdoor looks. The collection will celebrate Marimekko’s bold and colorful graphic prints on everything from swimsuits to backyard play tents and stand up paddle boards.
There are more than 200 lifestyle and apparel pieces featuring the Finnish designer’s signature bold prints. Most are under $50 each, with the paddle board holding the highest price point of the collection at just under $500.
The theme of the collection is fun, which is clearly evident through the playful apparel pieces as well as the lifestyle home goods needed for summer fun.
“Our two brands came together to play,” a Target spokesman said at a press conference where the collection was previewed earlier this week.
In response to how Target will handle traffic to its website which notoriously crashed the last few designer collaborations, the Target spokesperson said it will be a balancing act where the company wants to “satisfy demand, but we want to keep it special since it is a limited-time collection.”
