The Cords & Co launches military inspired capsule with Alpha Industries
Corduroy brand The Cords & Co has launched a collaboration with US military apparel supplier Alpha Industries to reimagine fighter pilot bomber jackets and parkas in a limited edition corduroy capsule.
Alpha Industries is the manufacturer of the MA-1 fighter pilot jacket and N-3B parka which were originally created for the US Air Force 50 years ago. The two unisex jackets are offered in The Cords & Co's signature earthy colors of nutmeg, black and military green.
The coats feature Alpha Industries' design elements such as the "Remove Before Flight" detailing. The bomber jacket is reversible and contains a lining in Alpha's high-visibility Indian orange color.
Omar Varts, The Cords & Co's brand director called the collaboration authentic. He said by turning Alpha's classic silhouettes into corduroy pieces, the brand "can contribute meaningfully" to their partnership.
Alpha Industries' PR and marketing manager, Ben Birkl, said that Alpha has been wanting to collaborate to transform its iconic pieces into corduroy for some time, but had been unable to find the right partner or materials. Birkl said meeting The Cords & Co in 2016 was the partnership they needed to bring the idea to life.
The Cords & Co launched in 2016 as the world's first premium corduroy brand. It has five flagships located in London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, and Stockholm.
The Cords & Co x Alpha Industries jackets will launch in all five of The Cords & Co global flagship stores on December 7. They will also be available online through The Cords & Co and Alpha's websites, and select retailers globally.
The bomber jacket retails for approximately $320 (£240) and the parka for approximately $465 (£350).
