The Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum announced on Monday the next installment of its “Selects” series guest curated by CFDA Award winning designer, Thom Browne.

Thom Browne Selects is an installation of over 50 of the museum’s historic and contemporary mirrors and frames curated by the American designer including 18th-century French gilt bronze frames, brass and fruitwood frames by Hector Guimard and mirrors by designers Edgar Brandt, Carel Adolph Lion Cachet, Jim Dine and Tommi Parzinger.

Browne celebrates individuality and explores ideas of reflection with this presentation. In addition to the museum’s collection of mirrors and frames, the designer includes personal items like a desk, chair, typewriter, coat stand and reflective silver-plated shoes.

“When approaching this project and exhibition, I was drawn to the collection of mirrors and wanted to create an installation that played on the idea of reflection—giving the viewer the idea that his or her reflection is a work of art. My intent was also to play with the idea of uniformity and individuality,” Browne said.

Thom Browne Selects will be on view at the Nancy and Edwin Marks Collection Gallery from March 4, 2016 to Oct. 2, 2016. The installation is the 13th edition of the ongoing “Selects” series.
