Toronto Men’s Fashion Week Highlights

Published
Feb 29, 2016

On Tuesday Toronto Men’s Fashion Week (TOM) will come to an end with one final closing party.

Canada’s only Men’s Fashion Week which took place from February 22 to March 1, put the spotlight on men’s design through several designer showcases as well as a speaker series that this year tackled the question ‘how to market to men.’

As to be expected, it was the runway presentations that stole the show, but designers gained attention both on and off the runway. Toronto Men’s Fashion Week veteran, Christopher Bates's runway presentation was perfectly timed with the debut of his new footwear collection for Harry Rosen.

During the week-long event, Toronto designer Hussein Dhalla from the menswear label Dalla also garnered attention off the runway after sharing pictures on Instagram of Grammy winner, the Weeknd, sporting his designs.

On stage, Tuck Shop Trading Co. made their runway debut. The Canadian heritage-inspired clothing brand known for their City of Neighbourhoods collection took to the runway for the first time with an extended collection of apparel.

Models also got an equal amount of attention. Model Paul Mason who took the internet by storm this winter as “Fashion Santa”, was one of the events social media sensations. Joining Mason on the Runway for TOM’s MENSFASHION4HOPE charitable runway show was Toronto city councillor Norm Kelly, who equally garnered much attention.

Next on Canada’s fashion calendar is Toronto’s original fashion showcase, Toronto Fashion Week, which will kick off March 14.
