Tory Burch opens Paris flagship

Published
Jul 6, 2015

Tory Burch has opened its first store in Paris. The American ready-to-wear brand, launched in 2004 by designer and entrepreneur Tory Burch, opened its first store in the French capital this weekend. The 4,300 ft² flagship at 412 Rue Saint-Honoré was first announced by FashionMag Premium nearly two years ago.

Tory Burch made her debut in Europe in 2011, with a first store in Rome, followed by a flagship in London on Bond Street, another one in Munich and a store in Milan.

Only Paris was left to complete the brand's presence in the major European fashion capitals. A decisive step in the development of the bohemian chic label, which first entered the French market in 2008 via multibrand distribution and e-commerce.

The Paris store, housed in a 19th century building, was conceived by designer and architect Daniel Romualdez. It includes a series of sitting rooms on several levels offering all of the brand's collections, including leather goods and shoes.

The label generates a quarter of its revenue, amounting to nearly 800 million euros, outside of the United States. After its domestic market, Europe accounts for 10% of its total sales and Asia constitutes its main area of expansion. Indeed, Tory Burch opened its largest store in the world in Shanghai in November.

The American label is distributed through 140 fully owned stores in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia, as well as 3,000 multibrand points of sale and via its website. Following the opening in Paris, it plans on opening stores this year in Prague, Chile, Cairo, Kuwait and Hong Kong.

The other major project in the works is the launch of Tory Sport, a collection of premium sportswear, which could be unveiled at the next New York Fashion Week in September. "We have been working on this line for two years, but I have been thinking about it for at least eight," said the designer last April during the Condé Nast International Luxury Conference in Florence.

"We have worked with materials and fibres in view of uniting fashion and performance. The stretch materials can totally be fashionable. My children saw this sports line and loved it," she said.
