The Japanese fast-fashion chain Uniqlo is releasing another edition of its collaboration with French fashion icon Inès de la Fressange, with the latest installment to include menswear for the first time. The collection will be available from the 31st of August in Uniqlo flagship stores and online.

The collection marks the eighth season of the collaboration between  de la Fressange and Uniqlo, combining comfort with Uniqlo's lifewear concept. The retailer's design director Naoki Takizawa was enlisted in the design effort of the collection, which for the first time includes menswear.

The inspiration behind the collaboration is the Danish concept "hygge," which stands for warmth, a comfortable atmosphere or a sense of well-being. "Based on hygge, the collection pursues the goal of creating heartwarming, happy moments with the most important people in our lives. The collection can be combined in a variety of ways and is ideal for everyday life with family, close friends and family Loved ones," said Uniqlo in a statement about the collection.

The women's collection includes new, classic sports knitwear and patterned Norwegian sweaters in the Hygge and vintage styles. New features include a mods coat, a duffle coat and a boa blouse. The popular line from De la Fressange has also been expanded with new designs. The men's collection includes coat with stand-up collars, as well as tweed and cord jackets and cashmere items.

Ines de la Fressange began her career in modeling in 1975, and became Karl Lagerfeld’s muse and Chanel’s go-to model from 1983 through 1990. In 2013, she launched her brand Ines de la Fressange Paris, and serves as its Creative Director.

Fast Retailing-owned Uniqlo opened its first boutique in Hiroshima, Japan in 1984. Today, the company has over 1,800 stores worldwide, including a number of multi-level, high-profile flagships in major cities in Europe, the United States, Australia and Asia.
