Vitra and Camper are working together at the Swiss design furniture manufacturer’s campus. The footwear brand opened a pop-up store on June 18 at the Vitra Museum, located in Weil-am-Rhein, Germany.

For 3 months, the store will serve as a showcase for the project Made in Afrika. Diébédo Francis Kéré, who was born in Burkina Faso and studied in Berlin, has overseen the store’s architectural design.

The space is also presenting the initiative Ethical Fashion, a United Nations program promoting the work of artisans from countries such as Ethiopia and Haiti. Finally, Vitra is using the opportunity to highlight its innovations in store design.

The Swiss design and shop fitting specialist is offering visitors the opportunity to use digital media to look up information about shoes and their design. An optical scanner that accurately measures customer footprints serves as another innovative service element.

The data collected will allow clients to find the most suitable footwear and to create an insole perfectly adapted to the shape of their feet. They can then use the data, which is uploaded onto their virtual customer profile, to order online.
