Yoox launches online boutique for women’s shoes

Published
Mar 7, 2012

Yoox group, the Italian online retailer of fashion brands, has strengthened its product offering with the new launch of a website solely dedicated to footwear for women. Called shoescribe.com and going live as of today (March 7), the e-store offers more than one hundred brands, ranging from Sergio Rossi to Marc Jacobs.

In this virtual universe of shoes, women will be able to find footwear by Acne, Alexander Wang, Bally, Giambattista Valli, Marni, Opening Ceremony, Proenza Schouler, or even niche brands such as Twins for Peace, Ancient Greek Sandals, Minimarket, Ellen Verbeek and Charles Philip. But not only does Shoescribe.com stock a large number of labels, the website also features an editorial section containing a blog, videos, information on the latest trends, and interviews with celebrities. Users will also be able to buy other shoe-related products ranging from books, jewellery, design pieces, etc.

Shoe-lovers will most certainly enjoy the shopping portal’s exclusive services dedicated to shoes. Suzie Scribe, a “shoe guru”, will give customers shopping advices, while an annual subscription will give “shoescribers” access to several extra services such as shoe repair, free delivery, and even a 'Cinderella for a day' programme which offers 50% discounts on their birthday. Finally, to celebrate its launch, the website will have famous Hollywood costume designer Arianne Phillips as a special guest, talking about today’s trends and her “must have” products.

The new website will be based on the same platform of www.yoox.com, launched in 2000 by Federico Marchetti. When his company was listed at the Borsa Italiana (Italy’s main stock exchange) in 2009, the CEO and founder of the Yoox group said that, after clothing products, shoes accounted for most of their sales. Now, “with our twelve years of experience in e-commerce, we know that shoes, without a shadow of a doubt, will bring the most sales. This is why we wanted to create a space solely dedicated to footwear, while at the same time offering services that would make the online shopping experience unique”, Federico Marchetti explained.

In addition to Shoescribe.com and its eponymous website, the Yoox Group also has also been operating Yoox Services since 2006, which runs the online stores of several big fashion labels, as well as Thecorner.com, an online boutique showcasing a selection of cutting-edge fashion and accessories for men and women through dedicated mini-stores.

In 2011, the group saw a turnover of 291.2 million euros, up 35.9% in comparison to 2010.
