JD Sports Fashion has enjoyed strong sales since late summer with total revenues for the 22 weeks to January 1 up 10%. It also upgraded its profit forecast for the full year after the good trading in H2 so far.
Authentic Brands Group has inked a deal for Reebok to be sold via nearly 3,000 JD Sports stores worldwide, the latest step in the US group’s organisational overhaul of the sport brand before its purchase’s completion.
Acquisition-hungry JD Sports Fashion has now moved into beauty. The UK-based sportswear giant has bought a stake in online hair & beauty brand Hairburst, which sells vitamins, shampoos and styling products.
In what looks to be a strong fit, retail giant JD Sports Fashion has made a multi-million-pound investment in UK performance wear/althleisure retailer Gym King, taking a “significant” minority stake in the firm.
JD sports has been on the acquisition trail again with news that it's bought menswear retailer Oi Polloi. It's also been reported that CEO Peter Cowgill could step back from day-to-day control of JD this year.
JD Sports continued its long run of powerful results reports on Tuesday. And the theme was ‘retention’ as it retained most of the sales and profits that would have happened in stores when it was trading online only.
JD Sports hasn’t stopped looking for acquisitions and on Monday it said that it has reached a conditional agreement to buy US-based DTLR Villa, the “hyperlocal athletic footwear and apparel streetwear retailer”.
