Carven - Menswear Autumn/Winter 2014/2015 Show in Paris (with interview)

access_time 00:02:24

The carven man grows in confidence season by season, particularly with the latest collection bursting with options. an elegant wardrobe that plays on the duality between a formal and a more urban look simulated by shoes with thick, pink soles and a relaxed suit with too-short trousers. numerous details accompany this silhouette, such as two-material clothes, a tartan biker jacket with leather sleeves, shearling collars added to a coat, or shirts printed with brassai-type patterns. discrete luxury emerges from these materials borrowed from the world of couture. guillaume henry, artistic director of this house, continues to be as brilliant for menswear as for women. interview:guillaume henry:at carven, we always try to work on duality on this slight twist, such as how to relax a smoking jacket or how to enrich a denim jacket without just adding stripes, rhinestones and multicoloured linings. that is sort of attitude we want and in terms of a fashion show, this might be the choice of a guy who will wear the silhouette but it is true that the twist is essential.i love carven; for both men and women, carven is a house with a history of couture so i really like to explore the couture volumes and materials even with menswear. we were so excited about making organza shirts for men and they didn’t look any less masculine. we used tartan because you maybe felt with the music the feeling of the 30s. we didn’t exclusively situate him in chicago because i think this boy is a traveller, he is international but he has this frank sinatra side and i liked the idea of rather large tartan such as this, which reminds me of certain images that spring to mind in weegee photos or the days when groups of young men used to gather in casinos.music from the show
